Power Levels – Boost and Replay
There are x5 power levels on the Orion X Plus and all are suitable for the replaceable coil pods.Whilst the pods from the original Orion DNA Go are compatible, the coils inside those are designed for just the first two power levels, white and blue.
Select the power level by pressing the adjustment button towards the bottom side of the device, and scroll through white/blue/red/yellow and purple.
Once you’ve found your perfect vape – hold down the adjustment button for 3 seconds until the light turns green and this puts you in Replay mode, recreating your perfect vape.To disable Replay mode hold the adjustment button down for 3 seconds – easy!
The 0.25ohm mesh coil can be vaped between 13 to 22w – whilst the regular 0.5ohm coil can be vaped between 10 and 18wBoost mode gives the coils an instant zap of more power to get them heated up nicely and of course, all settings and power levels can be fiddled with within the Escribe software – I’ll go into more detail on that shortly.
Key Features
For such a little device there appears to be a lot going on – trust me it’s pretty simple to pick up and vape though! The Orion Plus is as the name suggests the updated version of the original and includes not only replaceable coils, but an upgraded version of the DNA Go chip.
I have found no issues with the out of the box settings however and as I’ve mentioned you can hook it up to to the Evolv Escribe software and tinker to your heart’s content.

Note: You can upgrade the original Orion DNA Go device to the new software and just buy the new pods and coils. However the pods from the Orion Q are not compatible.

Design and Build Quality
My original Orion DNA GO has been through the wars and used very regularly and is looking a bit battered and I’ve lost one of the screws holding it all together!
The pods slide in and out easily enough however do make sure they are slotted in tight – a couple of times they’ve separated in my pocket – no leaks but I did have to clean fluff from them ?
The adjustable airflow on the mouthpiece is tight but after a few turns loosen up enough but without wandering around in your pocket. Pulling the coils out can be a bit of a pain – they are in there very tight which is good, but swapping the one installed did make my girly fingers a little sore – ah bless lol.
As to the design – wow – just wow!
As you can see I received the black stabwood/resin version which is bloody gorgeous and trust me, the photos online don’t do it justice – in the flesh, it’s a bloody stunner!
There’s a variety of colours and combos to choose from – 15 in all – with the stabwood series – carbon fibre collection and the awesome abalone set – so plenty to choose from and all look very sexy indeed.
How Does the Lost Vape Orion Plus Perform?
The Orion Plus comes with x2 replaceable coils so let’s look at how each one performs.
For the taste test I used my current go-to juice Contra from Wick Liquor an 80/20 PG/VG blend as I wanted to see how well it wicked. Incidentally Lost Vape says the pods/coils are suitable for both freebase nicotine and nic salts.

0.25 Mesh Coil
I began on the two lower power levels with the airflow wide open and to be honest there was not a lot going on – a very weak vape!
However, bumped up to the red setting – which is around 18w and things began to improve and got even better at the higher purple setting of 22w, giving very good flavour but token vapour – a cloud chucker this isn’t!
I was able to get a very good lung hit – once I’d adjusted my vape style to the tiny mouthpiece! When sub-ohm vaping I do like a 810 drip tip!
Closed off almost shut, and this was definitely better for me with richer flavour and a very good tight MTL draw.
0.5 Regular Coil
Again I began on the lower levels of 10 to 11w and again not much was happening, indeed I really had to suck to get any vapour.
Bumped up to 14 and 16w settings and things as you might expect improved and at the max of 18w I found my happy setting.
A cool side of warm vape with good flavour but not as tasty as the mesh coil. Once again vapour was minimal so this is one for what you might call considerate vaping ?
I was able to get a loose lung hit but even at the higher wattage is was a little on the weak side.
This one is better for a true MTL draw, especially with the airflow shut right down and we’ll look at that next.
Airflow on the Lost Vape Orion Plus
Wide-open airflow and on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being extremely airy I’d put this at about an 8.
Closed right off and this is one heck of a tight vape at about a 1 lol.
I found a happy medium about a third open for lung hits and about 1/5th open for a nice restricted MTL draw.
The airflow control is a little stiff, to say the least and your fingers do seem to catch the re-fill cap, but after a couple of days, it’s loosened up.
Pros
- Choice of mesh or regular coils
- Updated DNA Go chip
- Replay and Boost
- Easy fill
- Can be used with previous pods
- MTL or DTL vape styles
- Long battery life – day and half vaping
- Quick charge time of a little over an hour
- Airflow control
- Huge choice of colours and materials
- Feels solid in the hand
- Good price!
Cons
- Paint finish not that solid (on my device)
- Swapping coils can be a little stiff!
Final Review Verdict
I rated the original as one of the best pod kits I’d had the pleasure of using and reviewing – so is the Orion PLus now my go-to?
In a word yes!
The flavour off that mesh coil is very good indeed and certainly beats the original pods/coils.
The vapour is a little weak even using my 80/20 VG PG blend – but this is a smart, you might even say, sophisticated set-up and not one to chuck clouds bro’.
I love love love the design and was really pleased to receive the black stabwood/resin version – both badass and sexy at the same time ?
The price point is very good too and I’ve seen this on offer for around the $50 mark – which is a bit of a bargain for such a solid pod kit.
If you have the original Lost Vape Orion DNA Go or even the Orion Q – the one that comes without the DNA chip – I highly recommend you upgrading if only for that mesh coil – which is a very nice vape indeed.
Note: I have marked it down slightly for the scratch which could be down to the paint job and also the 0.5ohm coil is not quite there taste-wise. Therefore it’s got the same marks I gave the original Orion DNA Go kit, however, all things considered, it is a much better vape experience with more power options if that makes sense ?
